Experimented with FigmaMake’s new AI features to design “Special Someone,” an interactive site where users can send virtual messages, gifts, and playlist CDs.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Won first place @ CMU Figma Make contest.

SCOPE

Web Design, AI Collaboration, Figma

PROCESS

With the release of FigmaMake, I set out to explore its AI-powered interactivity by designing a playful website experience. My goal was to push beyond static visuals and experiment with how AI could easily integrate dynamic features.

I began by sketching the full concept in Figma, focusing on creating a warm, nostalgic interaction that blends personal connection with digital convenience. After establishing the visual direction, I imported the design into FigmaMake.

OUTCOME

The result was “Special Someone”, an interactive website where users can virtually send a heartfelt message, a small gift, and even a customized playlist CD to a friend or loved one. This project allowed me to explore how AI can transform a traditional website into a fully interactive one, harnessing AI. I also was able to sharpen my skills in prototyping, interaction design, and emerging design tools.

REFLECTION

I learned that AI works best when guided by strong visual direction. Without intentional structure, AI-generated interactions feel generic. With clear design constraints, it becomes powerful and expressive. The technology didn’t replace design decisions, but it rather amplified them.

Even though this project centered around FigmaMake’s new AI capabilities, I began with concept and mood.

By sketching the full experience in Figma first, I ensured that the AI supported the story rather than dictating it. That discipline helped the final product feel cohesive.
